Step 1
Log on to the website for the software program that you would like to use to design a card for your mom. Follow the directions given on the site for downloading the software or registering for the program.

Choose the front cover design you would like to use from the selection given in the software program. If you do not see one you would like to use, you can upload your own graphics or photos in the program and custom design the front cover the way you want it to look. The card maker software programs have a desktop publishing format that allows you to import your own designs.

Select a message for the inside of your card from the inventory listed in the card maker software. Again, if you don't see the message you like, you can create your own message and have it printed on the card. Import a favorite quote or poem, or use your own personalized message. Preview the way your message looks on the card before finalizing it.

Add your mom's favorite song so that she hears it play when she opens the card. You can also add favorite sounds or even record your own audible message on the card, so she hears your greeting. Your card maker software comes with all the tools necessary to custom design graphics and music and record your words.

Step 5
Preview your card design when you are done to make sure you are happy with it. Make any changes necessary before you finalize the card. When you are ready, add your mom's email address with instructions on when to send your personalized card.
