How to Remove Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a browser application similar to Microsoft Internet Explorer, with many of the same plug-ins and components. If you have to uninstall Firefox to free up some hard drive space, switch browsers or reinstall it, you must eliminate it through Windows. Firefox does not have an internal uninstall option.

Instructions

    • 1

Close the Firefox browser. Press the Ctrl, Alt and Del buttons at the same time. Scroll down the list of running applications. Close any Firefox programs that appear in the list.

    • 2

Open the Start menu. In Windows XP, select "Control Panel," then "Add or Remove Programs." In Windows Vista, click "Control Panel," then "Programs and Features."

    • 3

Locate and highlight Mozilla Firefox. In Windows XP, click the "Remove" button. In Windows Vista, click the "Uninstall" link at the top of the Programs page.

    • 4

Follow the prompts to uninstall Firefox.

    • 5

Close the Control Panel, go to the C drive and double-click on "Program Files." Look through the folders for "Mozilla Firefox." If the folder is still in "Program Files," right-click on it and select the "Delete" tab.
