How to Cover Up Severe Acne

Selecting Products

1
Choose a light, oil-free foundation that matches your base skin tone. Use the color of your neck as a guide. If the foundation blends flawlessly into your neck, then it is the perfect match. If you're having trouble figuring out which color is best, go to a cosmetics counter at your local department store and ask one of the salespeople to help you.

Application

Apply a thin layer of foundation all over your face and neck. This is done to give you a uniform canvas. Then, dip the concealer brush into the concealer and gently dab some on the blemishes you want covered.

Using the concealer brush, gently blend the concealer on and around the blemishes. Use a delicate tapping motion to cover the acne effectively. Don't rub or press too hard on a pimple, as you may wipe off the concealer.

Use the large powder brush to apply powder all over your face. Blend some of the powder into your neck to make sure it matches the color of your face. The powder will set the concealer and give your face a uniform color to prevent the covered blemishes from standing out against your base skin tone.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't have a concealer brush, apply the concealer to the acne with your fingertips.
Do not apply any makeup on broken skin or open sores. It may cause a deeper infection. Do not pick at your acne or touch your face with dirty fingers, as it may lead to scarring and more infections.
