How to Create a Wedding Day Timeline
Planning wedding day activities requires some thought and organization. The steps below can be used to create a wedding day timeline that includes not only the times for activities but also the who, what, where information that will help in insuring that your wedding day goes as smoothly as possible. By carefully planning and providing a wedding day schedule to your wedding helpers, you can just relax and enjoy your Big Day.

1
WRITE DOWN ALL THE THINGS THE WEDDING DAY SCHEDULE.
For this step, if you're at this point in your wedding planning, envision your wedding day so that you can begin your list. For example, if you're planning to use a candelabra during the ceremony, write down "get candelabra to (insert wedding location)" . An associated task would be "put the candelabra together". Continue to use this method for different aspects of your wedding ceremony and/or reception. This will certainly be a working list as it may not be possible to make this list all in one sitting and, of course, details may change. A good idea is to create your wedding day timeline using a Microsoft Word table with several columns and rows (a link to a 1-page customizable wedding day timeline template is in the resources section below). For now, make the first column the item or activity that needs to be accomplished.

2
WRITE DOWN WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR EACH ITEM IN YOUR WEDDING DAY TIMELINE.
If you use the Microsoft Word format as described above, you can use the next column to indicate the person(s) who will be responsible for each wedding day task. If you haven't already asked people to perform these tasks, just list their names with a question mark as a reminder that you need to ask them about it. The key is to think ahead of time of how you can delegate the activities. Don't choose people just because they are family or friends. Choose them because they are responsible. After all, you don't want to be concerned about all the details on your wedding. Your focus should be the 'MARRIAGE".

3
INDICATE THE "WHERE" AND "WHEN" OF THE WEDDING DAY TIMELINE.
Indicating exact details about where each wedding day task or activity should take place will be a big help. Continuing with the candelabra example above, you could write, "church, exact center of the pulpit, 3 feet from the front)" if that is where you want it to be placed. This may seem like a lot of detail. However, the more information you provide your helpers, the fewer calls and questions you'll get as your wedding day gets closer or on your actual wedding day. Also, indicate the time for the activity especially if there are time constraints on the facility that you are using.
