Don't wonder about what's in your shampoo -- just make your own.

Combine natural ingredients to create your own nourishing shampoo formula. The ingredients can be found in a well-stocked grocery store or a natural foods store. Use liquid castile soap or another natural soap as the sudsy base for these recipes. Pure castile soap is made from vegetable oil and gets hair squeaky clean. The egg adds a conditioning element to the shampoo and lemon juice helps make your hair shiny. Does this Spark an idea?

      Make a basic egg shampoo in the blender with 1 egg, 1 teaspoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon mild unscented shampoo and 1/2 cup water. Blend until smooth and use immediately. Store leftover shampoo in the refrigerator.

      Use a screw-top jar to shake together 1/4 cup honey, 2 tablespoons liquid soap, 2 tablespoons water, 1 tablespoon witch hazel, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon almond oil and 1 tablespoon rosewater. Keep the leftovers in the refrigerator and use the next time you shampoo. This recipe is especially suited to oily hair.

      Combine 1 egg, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 3 tablespoons unscented shampoo and a few drops of essential oil in a covered jar. Shake well to combine. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
