It's so easy! Using only Microsoft Word and your digital photo, you can create a photo greeting card that your family or friends will love receiving.

Things You'll Need

  • Digital Photo
  • MS Word software
  • Avery Inkjet Half-Fold Greeting Cards, White, Matte, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 (or equivalent)
  • Inkjet Printer

Instructions

    • 1

      Decide on the digital photo you would like to use, and open a New Document in MS Word. If your photo is oriented as portrait, orient your blank Word document as landscape. If your photo is oriented as landscape, orient your Word document as portrait.

      Margins

      On the File Menu, choose Page Setup/General and set all four margins to .5".

      Ruler

      On the View Menu, choose Ruler so you will be able to align your photo and printing properly.

      Cursor at 5 1/2 inches

      Hit the Enter key until your cursor is aligned with the 5 ½ inch mark.

      Prepare to insert photo

      On the Insert Menu, choose Picture/From File...

      Insert photo

      Locate your digital photo in the Insert Picture Dialog Box, and double click on it.

      Finished front

      Your photo is now inserted properly on the Word document. The finished card will fold in half at the 5 inch mark on the ruler, so you can add or delete lines above the photo until it is exactly where you want it to appear. Add a caption or greeting above or below the photo that suits the purpose of your card, and Save it.

      Open a second New Document, and follow steps 1 through 4.

      Choose a font and size you like and type the sentiment you would like on the inside of your card.

      Follow the print instructions on the Greeting Card stock, and you have a professional-looking card that was custom made!

Tips & Warnings

  • Greeting Card printer stock comes with matching envelopes

  • I've given instructions to create a landscape-oriented card. If you wish to create a portrait-oriented card, you will need to use the tab or space bar to get to the 5 1/2 inch mark lengthwise.

  • Make sure that you have plenty of ink in your color inkjet cartridge to ensure the best quality result
