Things You'll Need:
- Flip-flops Wet cloth Craft jewels and gems Sea shells Various embellishments Craft glue or thread and needle
-
Step 1
Wipe off the area of your flip-flops that you will be decorating. This will make sure they are free of debris and dust, and will enable the glue to dry and stick properly. Allow to completely dry.
-
Step 2
Beads make great flip flop decorationsGather the supplies that you will be decorating with. At a craft store, you can find bags of gems, beads, rhinestones and anything else you could possibly imagine that you might want to put on the flip flop. If you are spending time at the beach, gather small seashells or sea glass to add, and it can make the flip-flops more of a memento. Strips of fabric tied to the upper thongs of the flip-flop also works wonderfully, and you can customize your colors for your favorite school or sports team.
-
Step 3
Once you have your embellishments selected, decide which method you will be attaching them with. You can use a fine needle and thread to sew the items on, or a strong craft glue that will dry clear. The craft glue allows for greater flexibility in case you make a mistake, but the needle and thread will give a more secure attachment.
-
Step 4
Place the glue on the area of the flip-flop you wish to decorate, and then attach the object. Hold in place for 30 seconds to give it an initial grip, then allow it to dry on its own. Try not to disturb the piece while you are adding your next piece. Put the glue on one spot or section at a time to prevent it from drying out and having excessive glue buildup on the flip-flop.
