Step 1
Buy an earlier version of MSN Office. Retail stores and computer repair shops may have older versions of MSN Office available on discs for purchase. A computer service center may install the software for you. The MSN website is offering only Office 2007, so downloads of Office 2000 or 2003 are not available.
-
Step 2
Install Microsoft Office 2000 or 2003 from a disc. Insert the disc into a computer CD drive and follow the prompts. An installation wizard sets up the software. You will be asked to click a few selections for configuration options on your computer.

Step 3
Customize the spell checker. Open your MSN email box. Click the "Settings: E-mail" selection in the left column, under the folders to get to the email settings page. Click the "Writing E-mail" choice. Then click "Spelling Checker" to get to the option choices. The spell check can correct as you type, or before the message is sent. Emoticons can be automatically inserted, and it offers English from four different nations. Click the boxes next to options you prefer.

Step 4
Download a spell checker from an Internet source. Spell Check Anywhere has an add-on specifically for MSN email. Top Shareware and Super Shareware list several spell checker applications that can be downloaded for a variety of programs. Website address are included in the Resources section below.
