Step 1
Kits also allow you to build chorus and distortion pedals. Find these kits at online music shops, some of which are listed in the Resources section.

You will need tape, screwdrivers, wire strippers and a soldering iron to build your kit. Clear off a table in a well-lit area and put some newspaper down to protect the equipment from damage.

Remove the components from your effect pedal kit and plug them all into the appropriate spots on the prefboard. Each component will have metal prongs that should plug into the prefboard. Consult the schematic that comes with your kit as to the proper location of each component.

Take the wires from the kit and strip them at both ends. Take the exposed ends of each wire and twist them up around the terminals on each of the components in your effects pedal kit.

Use the soldering iron to solder the connections you just made with the wires and components.

Use screws to secure the completed prefboard with all the components into the chassis of the pedal.

Take the top chassis and screw it on to the bottom chassis. The top half is secured with screws on the back of the bottom chassis. Use a 9-volt battery to power your guitar effects pedal.

Test the pedal.
