1
Delete your temporary Internet files. These include your browsing history, cookies and cache. You can do this by going to the "Tools" menu at the top of the browser and then clicking the "Clear Private Data." option and then press the "Clear" button. This will take care of all three of these temporary files. If you don't want to go through this menu every time you start or exit your browsing session, you can automate the process by going to the "Tools" menu and selecting "Options." From there, go to the "Privacy" tab and checking the box next to "Always clear my private data when I exit Firefox." Your private data will now automatically be deleted when you close Firefox.

Install browser optimizing add-ons. Add-ons like "No Script" and "Ad Block," can be uses to stop unnecessary page elements (such as banner ads and flash elements) from loading. See the Resources section for more on Firefox add-ons.

Browse responsibly. Keeping unnecessary tabs open or streaming media from multiple sites are big no-nos if you want your browser to go fast. Keep the tabbed browsing to a minimum, and limit your media streaming to a single tab to keep Firefox running fast.

Tips & Warnings
If you implement the above steps and still find Firefox to be running abnormally slow, you may have adware or spyware installed on your computer. Try running an anti-malware program to detect any of these hidden threats.
