How to Create Luggage Tags
Do you often frantically search for your black suitcase among all the other black suitcases coming off the turnstile? Maybe you've accidentally picked up someone else's bag?
You could run out and buy a hot pink suitcase or you can create luggage tags. They are easy to personalize, quick to make and much cheaper than buying a new suitcase.
Things You'll Need
- self-sealing laminating pouches
- computer, paper and print shop program OR stencils
- glitter (optional)
- 3mm flat sequins (optional)
- hole punch
- elastic band for strap

Print out your design and gently rip the edges of the paper. You can opt for a graphic on one side and name and address on the back, or simply use the tag to quickly identify your bag from others.
A new suitcase usually comes with an attached identification tag, but you can create luggage tags of your own and use these in conjunction with your generic tag.

To create luggage tags, lay front and back portions of tags with wrong sides together. Open the self-sealing pouch and peel away the paper directions.
If using glitter or flat sequins, sprinkle these now on the sticky side of the pouch. Lay your graphic face down on the sticky side. Seal firmly with the palm of your hand, smoothing out any air bubbles.

Tips & Warnings
Design your luggage tag to suit your personality. If glitter and sequins are not your style, use brown kraft paper or a section of a manila file folder as your base. Center and stencil a bold monogram of your last name in black. Tie with sisal rope or a leather strand.
You may wish to go ahead and print an extra identification tag with your name, address and contact numbers. Laminate and leave in your suitcase. The airlines recommend having identification INSIDE your bag also, just in case your address tag should be torn off your suitcase's exterior enroute.

Yep, we always try to make a very obnoxious tag to set our bag apart from the rest. Thanks for the tips! -

Great idea to make a distinctive luggage tag for your suitcase when you travel. Make it brightly colored, too, to stand out amongst the rest ! 5* -

Creating my own luggage tag would look much better than the hot pink suitcase I bought, lol.
