How to Make a Ribbon Tutu

1
Gather or purchase ribbons. Look for a variety of ribbons and choose both wide and narrow ribbons. More ribbon will make a fuller and prettier tutu. Allow additional ribbon if you wish to make a longer ribbon skirt.

2
Cut your ribbon into the desired length. To make an 11-inch to 12-inch ribbon skirt, you will cut approximately 2-foot lengths of ribbon. For an 18-inch skirt, cut 3-foot lengths of ribbon.

Cut your elastic to the child's waist measurement. Overlap slightly and pin with a safety pin or sew the ends together with a needle and thread.

4
Fold a length of ribbon in half and place it under the elastic. The ends should extend on one side and a loop on the other. Thread the ends through the loop, making a basic slip knot. Repeat with the remaining ribbon.

Tie beads or bells onto the ends of some of the ribbons if desired. You may also want to stitch a few silk flowers onto the waistband of your ribbon tutu.
