How to Upgrade a Windows Installer

A Windows Installer is used to install many different programs on Windows operating systems. Windows Updates may require the latest installer. Windows Installers are backwards compatible. Upgrading the latest version will prevent any installation problems. Many programmers use the Windows Installer to create their executable files. If you have an earlier version, you will receive an error message. Upgrading will also fix any bugs you may have encountered in your current or older version. Upgrading is free and only requires an Internet connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the latest Windows Installer Redistributable package. See the Resources section for version 4.5.

    • 2

Double-click the executable file and allow the file to install.

    • 3

      Restart your computer when finished.

    • 4
