For the royal in every kid, a paper crown can be a great addition to a party. They can be individualized for every party and for every child; whether your party has a pirate or mythological theme or you're just looking for that something extra, paper crowns can make kids of all ages feel special, especially if they participate in making their own crowns. They'll look great in pictures from your child's special day.
Things You'll Need
- Several sheets of large construction paper Scissors Markers, stickers, and other decorations Scotch tape Picture of a crown
Take one piece of large construction paper and cut it into strip horizontally about three to five inches across.
Cut the shape of the crown into the paper. The simplest method is to cut inverse triangles out of the top of your strip of paper; you may cut these at an interval of your choosing. For more complex designs, consult an image of crown and reproduce its shape with your paper (see Resources below).
Decorate your crown. You can add decorative touches by coloring in jewels, by affixing sequins or by any other way you choose.
Leave your paper crowns open so they can be fitted on each child's head individually. When the kids are ready to don their crowns, simply fit the crown around the child's head and fix in place with two pieces of tape.
Tips & Warnings
- For extra fun, have kids help decorate their own crowns. Remember, children should always be supervised when using scissors and other art resources. To avoid scuffles, make all the crowns roughly the same and add each child's name to her crown.
