Instructions

    • 1

Measure your wood stove firebox, and place your order at Energex.com using the measurements for the right-size box. It has manufactured a device called a Prometheus that you can put into your wood stove so that you could burn pellets. It is basically a steel basket specifically designed to increase airflow to the pellets it holds.

    • 2

Clean out your wood stove. This is also a good time to clean your chimney, if possible, as the pellet stove will need a good draft to burn well. Remove all the ashes and any firebricks or grates you may have installed.

    • 3

Unpack the new insert and set it into your firebox, making sure it fits properly. Place a couple of regular starter logs under the basket, and fill the basket halfway with the pellets.

    • 4

Light the starter logs, and open all the flues and dampers until the fire gets started. Adjust them for the optimal air flow after it has started. Add more fuel with a regular feed shovel or ash shovel. It should burn from 2 to 12 hours, depending on how much air is circulating.
