Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Current fashion magazines
-
Step 1
Choose a source for fashion inspiration. I like ivillage online. Signing up to receive free catalogs from your favorite stores is also an easy way to stay current on fashions and trends. Fashion magazines can be a fun way to get inspiration, but sometimes their trends are not practical for everyday wear. Also, fashion magazines cost money and our goal is to update our spring style for free.
-
Step 2
Go through your closet at least once every season and evaluate what still fits, and what is still in style. Store clothes that are out of season in a separate place. When you go to get them out, they will feel like new because they haven't been staring at you every day.
-
Step 3
Brainstorm new wardrobe combination's based on the inspiration you find from your fashion sources. Find a consignment store near you and sell anything you haven't worn in the last year, or sell items on Craigslist. Use the income to buy current accessories and shoes. Just updating accessories will give you a fresh look. Also, if you shop at Ross Dress for Less, you can buy a brand new shirt for around $5, and a new pair of pants for $15!

on 11/20/2009 ooh, I like the advice in step 2 about storing out of season clothes out of sight, so they feel new again :) (I've always believed in that philosophy for kids toys, too!)
