Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper for making templates
  • A pencil
  • Tape measure
  • 3/4 inch thick wood for side pieces
  • Small hand saw to cut wood pieces
  • 6 1-inch L brackets
  • A hot glue gun
  • 3/4" x 1 1/2" width wood for cross pieces-You will need 2 of these.
  • Fabric and solid inside liner material
  • Ribbon
  1. Step 1

Trace templates on wood pieces that are ¾ inch thickness—or other suitable material. I was able to cut my pieces with a small hand saw.

  2. Step 2

With staple gun cover the wood pieces with fabric and staple to the inside. Once finished cut another piece of fabric to line the inside and glue with hot glue gun.

  3. Step 3

Assemble the rest of the frame. Cut cross wooden pieces of canopy to desired size. Attach to finished fabric end pieces with 1 inch L bracket. Attach cross wood pieces to top and bottom as shown in picture.

  4. Step 4

Sew a piece of fabric with liner that will be stapled to the back of the top wood cross piece and pull over to staple on the bottom wood cross piece.

  5. Step 5

Make a template of canopy fringe bottom using paper. Cut on fabric of choice with liner making sure to allow for width of piece and seam allowance. Sew scallop edge and side edges leaving top edge raw.
Glue your scalloped edge over the staple line of the top fabric on bottom wood cross beam.

  6. Step 6

Using a hot glue gun attach ribbon to cover the raw edges of your scalloped edge. Be sure to match up your pattern with the top fabric section.

  7. Step 7

Attach to wall with 1 inch L bracket—use bigger brackets as needed for bigger window sizes.
Have fun adding accent pieces to make your room a true French bistro!
