Things You'll Need:
- synthetic motor oil 5 liters
- oil filter wrench
- new oil filter
- Jack, or ramp to lift car
- Philip screw driver
-
Step 1
First you need to lift the front of the vehicle.
I used a ramp and also placed jack stands as a safety measure in case the ramp fails me.(I placed a brick block behind the rear wheels to prevent the car from rolling back) -
Step 2
You will need synthetic motor oil(grade 5w-40), oil filter, and oil filter wrench to loosen the old filter which can be stuck and difficult to remove with your hands.
-
Step 3
Go to the front of the car. Remove the cover with Philips screwdriver
-
Step 4
Time to locate the engine oil filter(white), and oil drain plug(behind red). Also check for any possible engine oil leaks and transmission oil a little further down. Please check my article on transmission
-
Step 5
Closer look at the oil drain plug.
-
Step 6
Position your oil catch container, open the drain and admire the dirty oil leave the system.
-
Step 7
Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the filter. Then use your hands to slowly open as left over oil seeps through.
-
Step 8
Important! Before opening hood of the car to fill up with new oil, make sure you have the drain plug and new filter screwed back in, unless you don't mind your new oil spilling out.
-
Step 9
Fill her up with 5liters of 5w40 synthetic motor oil or equivalent quality I used Total Quartz but there are easily available brands such as Mobil 1, Amsoil, castrol to name a few brands of fully synthetic motor oil.
All done!
