Turn on your HP laptop or desktop computer.

Press the F11 key on your keyboard before the operating system loads. If you've made it to the logo for your operating system, you have gone past the point where you can boot into the recovery partition. You'll need to restart your computer and try again. As soon as you see something on your computer screen, press the F11 key.

Make any changes necessary to your computer. The F11 key will automatically boot into the recovery partition. This doesn't mean that you can use your computer as normal. What it will do is bring up the System Restore program built into Windows. From here, you can restore your computer to the way it was working at an earlier time, create a boot disk or put your operating system CDs in your CD drive to reinstall your operating system and start from scratch.
