How to Install a DVD Player in a Chevy Tahoe
The Chevy Tahoe, a large SUV, can easily accommodate multiple types of DVD players because its roof is low enough for easy overhead viewing--unlike a van--and its headrests are large enough to fit most models--unlike a car. Some players can be installed in a matter of minutes.
Things You'll Need
- DVD player Audio/video cables Carrying case (portable) Razor knife (headrest) Contact cement (headrest) Drill/screwdriver (overhead)

1
If your Tahoe came with TVs installed, you can get a DVD player by itself and connect it. Otherwise, look for a car DVD player with its own built-in screen.
-
2
Find a place to store the DVD player if you're connecting one to a TV. For a headrest TV, store it under the seat and run the cable that connects it up through the seat upholstery. For a ceiling-mounted TV, the glove compartment can work. You may need to run the cable through the roof upholstery in this case.

Some players may be installed in the seat headrest. Cut a hole into the headrest to fit the player. Glue the frame into the hole with contact cement and insert the player after the cement hardens.

4
Mount an overhead player onto the Tahoe's ceiling. Install it between the two seats where passengers sit. Drill the screws into the metal or plastic sheet that should be covering the headliner, which is covered by the upholstery.

5
Get a simple portable DVD player that you can store in the vehicle if you want something that can be removed. Mount the player to the headrest with a soft case that includes straps. You can also affix it to the passenger side dashboard with adhesive strips.

6
Wire the DVD player so it can get power from the vehicle. Use a cord that plugs into a cigarette adapter. Otherwise, wire it directly to the electrical system. Through the stering column is the best location.
