Step 1
The first thing to remember about your building your resume is you are actually putting together the building blocks of your resumes. Every time you submit a resume it should be customized for the individual job. You don’t have to rewrite the whole thing, just tweak it to emphasize the specific qualities and skills the individual employer is looking for.
-
Step 2
Keep it neat, clean, and simple. Employers and human resource screener are going to be looking at piles of resumes and they are going to be looking for specific qualifications. It is important that you make those qualifications you possess easily and quickly identifiable. Trade paragraphs for bullet points and avoid filling up every inch of the page.
-
Step 3
Keep it relevant. It is important to include all the pertinent information you can, but leave the rest out. This means if you are applying for a job at an ad agency you probably don’t need to include the summer you spent hanging dry wall for your uncle. This doesn’t mean you should leave the entry level work out all together, just make sure it makes sense with the job you are applying for.
The only time you would want to include your entire work history is if you have a limited employment background. -
Step 4
Remember to sell yourself. You need to let the employer know that you are the best person for the job. Make sure not to come off as arrogant or exaggerated any skills to the point you are lying. Remember you will probably be asked to perform those skills at some point.

on 10/11/2009 A Simple Resume is the best. Most would be employers only give it a quick glance. If it's easy and simple, they might just read the whole thing. 5*
