In some cultures, the condition of one's skin is the ultimate sign of one's beauty. Learn how to keep your skin soft, smooth, and vibrant at home without expensive luxury products.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Moisturizing lotion
  • Loofah
  • Vitamins
  • Water
  • Sunscreen
  1. Step 1

Purchase an ample sized bottle of lotion. It does not have to be expensive lotion from the mall- lotion from the Dollar Store will work just as well. Look for lotions with cocoa butter, vitamin E, and aloe. All of these are good for hydrating your skin.

  2. Step 2

Several times a week in the shower, exfoliate your skin using a loofah and some soap or body wash. Within 5 minutes of getting out of the shower, apply lotion all over your body. Make sure to stay in the hot and steam filled bathroom - this will keep your skin supple and in optimal condition for being moisturized.

  3. Step 3

When exfoliating, rub your loofah in circular motions on areas such as your legs or arms. On tougher areas, such as your elbows and knees, exfoliate with a back-and-forth motion.

  4. Step 4

Drink 4 to 8 glasses of water per day. Eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals (such as fresh fruits or vegetables). Take a multivitamin or a vitamin E supplement.

  5. Step 5

It is difficult to receive completely smooth skin with body hair. If desired, shave your arms and legs (and other areas, if necessary). This will make your skin smooth and soft. However, shaving is not for everyone, and it is hard to stop once you get started.

Tips & Warnings
  • When doing housework that involves liquids such as dishwater or cleaning chemicals, wear gloves. While washing the dishes, apply lotion to your hands before putting on the rubber gloves. The warm water from the dishes combined with the lotion will make your hands super soft.
  • Buy a few bottles of inexpensive lotion and leave them in places around your house, such as in your kitchen, your bathroom, and living room. Apply lotion consistently throughout the day.
  • Be aware of skin sensitivity issues before choosing lotions.
