  1. Step 1

Purchase a bolt cutter from a hardware store. A large bolt cutter will perform the job better than a hand tool. Most bolt cutters cost less than $30. A 36-inch bolt cutter is usually sufficient for cutting most brands of Master Lock.

Consider using a hacksaw if the bolt cutters are not sufficient. A hacksaw will take longer and make a significant amount of noise, but it eventually will eat through the lock.

  3. Step 3

Use compressed dust remover (also called "compressed air") to make the lock brittle, and then crack it with a hammer. Apply the dust remover to the lock. It will be coated in frost. Then, rap it with a hammer. The lock should shatter.

  4. Step 4

Contact a locksmith. Most locksmiths will simply use a bolt cutter and then charge you significant amount of money.

  5. Step 5

Avoid breaking the law or the appearance of breaking the law. Cracking a lock without permission from the owner is a crime. In some states, possessing specialized lock-picking tools is a crime.
