How to Make Marriage Invitation Cards
With all the expenses that go along with a wedding, the thought of making your own invitations is an appealing idea. It is possible to create professional looking invitations at about half the cost of ordering them through a company.

Open a word document on your computer, then choose a font, size and color of type for the wedding invitation. If you have a wedding theme, try and match the invitation to the theme of your wedding. For example, a beach wedding may have a blue font and a slightly more whimsical look, such as the font Comic Sans MS. A more traditional wedding invitation would look nice with a font such as Monotype Corsive or Georgia. Also, be sure to choose an appropriate font size. Anything from size 22 to 26 should look nice on the invitation.

Type in a brief introduction for your invitation. Feel free to use samples you may find on the Internet to help you. Most invitations start with something like, "Please Join Us in the Union of Jessica Michelle Payton and Brian John Black at First Methodist Church of ...." You would fill in the place, date, time, RSVP number, and where the couple is registered.

Use spell-check to proof your work at the end, and make sure to center the information on the word document. This way when the wedding invitation prints, it will be centered on the paper.

Load the printer with the cards. Your local craft store should have blank wedding invitations you can buy. These stores also often carry kits that include the blank cards and envelopes. The size of the card is usually around 5 by 8 inches. Do a test print and go back, if necessary, to make any corrections needed.

When you load the printer with the cards, center the cards in the printer tray. Most printers have sliders at each side of the tray. You can use these to slide up next to each side of the card. Do a test print and make adjustments, if necessary. The invitations will print portrait style, but if you wish to have it print landscape, that's fine, the cards do not need to be loaded any differently.

You may wish to go an extra step and add a piece of vellum to each invitation. To do this, simply punch two holes at the top of each invitation, with the vellum on top so holes are punched through it as well, then tie a piece of ribbon through the holes and make a bow.
