Flyers are used to market businesses, events and products. Traditionally they are printed on standard 8½- by 11-inch paper. Color flyers attract more attention than black and white, but printing can be costly, so color paper is often used instead of multicolor ink. With the Internet, e-flyers can be created and emailed to recipients or placed on websites, where they can be opened and printed (if so desired). For the creator, there is no additional cost to create an e-flyer in full color. One way to create an eflyer is to use the PDF file format.

Design your flyer in a word processor or another program which can be used to create flyers, such as Publisher. Size the document to be 8½ by 11 inches. This will make it easier for the recipient to print.

Hire a graphic artist or another person to design a flyer. If you don't want to create the initial flyer, have someone prepare a flyer on an 8½- by 11-inch sheet of paper.

Convert your document to a PDF file. A PDF, or Portable Document Format, is an ideal file format for an e-flyer. Print the document to your PDF creator, if you have the software on your computer. If not, upload your document file on a free PDF creation website, along with your email address, and within minutes a PDF of your original document file will be emailed to you. Links to free PDF creation websites are included in resources.

Scan the flyer, if you did not create it on the computer. If you had another party create your flyer, and they delivered it to you on an 8½- by 11-inch sheet of paper, scan the flyer. During the scanning process, choose the option to create a PDF file.

Email your completed PDF file (e-flyer) to recipients or add the file to your website's folder. Include a link to the file on one of your web pages, so the flyer can be easily opened.
