How to Make a Crocheted Round Fabric Rug
Saving money will never go out of style and neither will recycling, which helps keep usable materials out of landfills. Combine both by using fabric remnants or old clothing to crochet a round fabric rug for your home.
This project works up quickly because of the large crochet hook---a Size Q. Creating the fabric strips takes a little time, but the crocheting goes fast. Before you know it, you'll have created a new rug for your home from recycled or leftover materials.

1
Cut or tear fabric or old clothing into strips approximately ½ inch wide. Try to cut the ½-inch strips as long as possible. Roll strips into a ball, just as you would roll up a ball of yarn.
-
2
As you crochet, when you get near the end of a strip of fabric, overlay the last 2 inches at the end of the current strip with about 2 inches at the beginning of a new strip. Crochet a few stitches while holding the two strips together.

If the rug begins to pucker as you crochet, unravel one or two rows and add more increases in every row until it lies flat.
