1
Vacuum all the carpets in the car to get rid of any stray ashes. Make sure to vacuum out the ashtrays as well.
-
2
For a temporary fix, place a couple of fabric softener sheets under each car seat. This will help mask the smell until you can get rid of it permanently.

-
3
Pour 1/2 cup to one full cup of baking soda into a disposable cup and place in one of your car's cup holders. This can help absorb some of the smoke smell.
-
4
Buy some cheap coffee grounds. Leave the opened container in your car as long as you can, to help get rid of the cigarette smell.
-
5
Fill a bowl with white vinegar and place in your car overnight. Vinegar helps absorb odors and does not leave the smell of vinegar behind.

If nothing works and the smell of cigarette smoke still lingers, it may be time to enlist professional help. Go to a car wash and ask for an interior detailing.
