A cyst is a small pocket of gas, pus or other material located on the skin or other parts of the body. According to WebMd.com, "The majority of cysts are benign, but some may produce symptoms due to their size and/or location." A cyst on the earlobe is often caused by a plugged sebaceous gland and can usually be treated at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Realize that if a cyst on the earlobe is small and isn't bothering you, it's probably best to leave it alone. When you touch it, you can cause it to grow and become inflamed.

  2. Step 2

Treat a cyst on the earlobe at home unless it's large. If it's large, medical treatment is necessary to ensure complete removal and prevention of infection.

  3. Step 3

Press slightly on a cyst on the earlobe to see if it causes pain. If it does, it probably contains pus that may be drained by warm water treatment. If it isn't painful, it may contain something besides pus that may be too difficult to remove with home treatment.

  4. Step 4

Wet a washcloth with warm water to treat a cyst on the earlobe. Apply it gently several times a day. This will increase circulation and help the cyst drain naturally.

  5. Step 5

Cleanse a cyst with soap and water if it should rupture. Apply hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment. Cover it with a bandage and seek medical treatment to avoid developing a serious infection.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't squeeze a cyst because you may force it deeper into your skin and cause inflammation or infection.
