How to Check Online History in a Computer Hard Drive
Both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox offer an easy way to check online history so that you can see where a user has surfed while online. This can be useful information if you are checking on a child's Internet usage, making sure an employee is not wasting company time or seeing what websites are being visited by anyone on the computer.

Check History in IE

Open Internet Explorer on your computer.

Click on the "Sundial" icon on the icon bar in IE 6 or earlier version. This will bring up a sidebar that gives you the viewing history of websites the browser has visited. This is broken down in sections for Today, Last Week, Last Month.

In IE 7, click on the "Bookmark Star" at the top of the browser. Click on the down arrow next to History in the box that pops-up. Choose the "By Date" option.

Click the date that you want to check browsing history. A list of the websites that were visited will display in the box. You may have to scroll down to see the URL or name of every website.

Open Mozilla Firefox on your machine.

Click on "History" from the text menu bar at the top of the browser.

Scroll the list of websites visited in the library box that opens.

Click on "Views" and select the options displayed if you want to change how the data is shown on the screen.

Tips & Warnings
Both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox will allow you to delete your browsing history. If you need to know if a someone is visiting a single website too often, check the option to display the history by website to see how often it has been accessed.
