It's fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Green Beer!

There is probably no more popular drink for Saint Patrick's Day than green beer. Served in bars everywhere on March 17th, this green ale can be easily created in your own home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Beer
  • Clear mug
  • green food coloring
  1. Step 1

If you are hosting a Saint Patrick's Day party and want to add green beer to your menu, you can use green food coloring to make your green beer, one mug at a time. It's best to use a clear, frosty mug - clear so everyone can see the green beer, frosty because that is the best way to enjoy a glass of beer.

  2. Step 2

You want to add the food coloring to the glass and then slowly pour the beer, to allow for the beer to absorb and take on the color. You will still get green beer if you add the food coloring after pouring the beer, but you will need to stir the mixture in order for the color to blend.

  3. Step 3

For a light colored beer, you will need two to three drops of food coloring to turn your beer green.

  4. Step 4

If you are using a darker ale, you will need to add more food coloring, approximately three to five drops.

  5. Step 5

It is a good idea to make a trial beer prior to Saint Patrick's Day. This way you can add more drops and stir if needed, but when the day comes, you will know just how many drops to add before pouring your beer.

  6. Step 6

Enjoy your Saint Patrick's Day and your green beer!
