One green smoothie can contain 5-8 servings of fruits and vegetables and is packed full of vitamins, fiber, and protein. Green smoothies are an excellent choice for breakfast or for any time of day. They are also a great way to get your kids to eat more vegetables.

Try this delicious and easy recipe to help your whole family get the vegetables and fruits they need.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • blender (a vitamix blender 4500 is great, but a normal blender will work, too)
  • raw greens
  • water or fruit juice
  • raw fruits (or frozen fruits)
  • honey (or another natural sweetener, optional)
  1. Step 1

Place about 1 1/2 cups of liquid (water, fruit juice, coconut milk, etc.) in the blender with about 3 large handfuls of greens (spinach, kale, celery, chard, romaine, alfalfa, parsley, beet greens, and collard greens, etc.) Blend until smooth.

  2. Step 2

Add an assortment of fruit (banabas, pear slices, peach slices, frozen berries, pineapple, etc.) and blend until well combined.

  3. Step 3

Add a natural sweetener like honey or stevia, if desired, and blend thoroughly. You can also add in other healthy boosters such as ground flax seed, ground pumpkin seeds, or coconut oil.

Tips & Warnings
  • Start out using less greens and gradually increase the amount as you get use to the flavor.
  • If you want realy smooth green smoothies you may want to consider purchasing a Vitamix Blender 4500 (see resource section for information).
