Step 1
Go to http://docs.google.com/#all. You can link directly to this site by visiting the Resources section of this article. Study the home page of Google Docs and familiarize yourself with the many options you have.
-
Step 2
Near the top of the page, you will see a blue frame. To the far left you will see "New." This link allows you to begin creating a brand new spreadsheet. Click "New" to begin. You will be taken to a drop-down menu. Scroll down to "Spreadsheet" and click there. An unsaved blank spreadsheet will appear.
-
Step 3
You will now see a blank spreadsheet with many rows and columns. Your columns go horizontally across the page and are lettered A, B, C, and so on. Your rows go vertically up and down the page and are numbered 1, 2, 3, and so on. You can design your spreadsheet anyway you desire. Play around with your spreadsheet and design it in whatever way works best for you and what information you want to track.
-
Step 4
If you run out of rows, you can simply add more rows by clicking on the "+" sign at the bottom left corner of your spreadsheet.
-
Step 5
To save your spreadsheet, simply click the "SAVE" feature at the top right hand corner of the page, right above your spreadsheet. Be sure to save your spreadsheet so you do not risk losing any information. You can also save your file by clicking on FILE, and then Save.
-
Step 6
If you have any questions or problems while using Google Docs to create your spreadsheet, choose the "Help" link where you will find valuable information, including a video tutorial on how to use Google Docs.
