Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
- Email address
- Twitter account

Step 1
The first step is really just some advice, and that is when shopping for your laptop or computer set yourself a budget and stick to it. You can always get something just a little bit better for a little bit more - it is the nature of tech products. Set yourself a desired target as well as an absolute maximum. This will not only help you not spend too much, but it will make the next steps more goal oriented and hopefully a little but more fun.
-
Step 2
This is the basic and easy way to find a great deal on a Dell, and one most people are familiar with: Search for Dell coupon codes by doing a Google search for "Dell Coupons". This will most likely link you to sites like www.techbargains.com, www.cheapstingybargains.com, couponmountain.com, etc... These sites post some great coupons and usually explain any details you need to know to be able to use the coupon code. Most of the time these sites have the same deals posted, but not always. So, make sure you check out more than just one of your Google results.
-
Step 3
Don't just check out Dell Home, but see what coupons and deals you can find in Dell Small Business. Also, if you aren't adverse to purchasing a refurbished/returned item, the Dell Outlet http://www.dell.com/outlet can save you quite a bit of money. Plus, refurbs from Dell do come with a warranty. I actually opted for a refurb on my last purchase, and saved $150 over the same spec'ed laptop new. It arrived in excellent condition and hasn't given me any problems. Dell also offers 'scratch and dent' at the Outlet, but I have no experience with that so I can't comment. If you do decide you might want to shop at the Outlet, make sure to check back often. The Outlet inventory is pretty active, so there will be new items showing up all the time.
-
Step 4
If you aren't against it, signing up to Dell's Offers and Promotions email mailing list will also get you access to deals and coupon codes not otherwise published. You have to register for an account with Dell at dell.com (required for purchase also), and then you can subscribe and manage your email subscriptions from your account page by clicking "Subscriptions" under "My Account Settings". Just be aware that Dell will email you regularly after you subscribe to one of their lists, but you can always unsubscribe if it begins to bother you.
-
Step 5
This is how the hard core deal seekers do it... sign up for a Dell Twitter feed for the most up to date deals. Dell publishes a list of all their current Twitter feeds here: http://www.dell.com/twitter There are Twitter feeds for deals at Dell Home, Dell Outlet, and Dell Small Business. I have included links to these Twitter feeds in the additional resources section. Of course, you will need a Twitter account to do this.
