Things You'll Need:
- Eye shadow primer
- 2-3 eye shadow shades
- Eye shadow brush/applicator
- Eyeliner
- Eyelash curler
- Mascara
-
Step 1
Apply all other types of makeup. Eye makeup is last in the makeup application process. Make sure that moisturizer, foundation, blush and bronzer are all applied to the face before proceeding to eye makeup. Apply an eye shadow primer to the eyelids to keep eye shadows from creasing and to hold eye makeup securely in place.
-
Step 2
Sweep an eye shadow brush or applicator along the lightest shade of eye shadow. Sheer, light colors should be applied all over the eyelid, from the lash line to the brow bone. This will open up the eye, making it appear bright and awake. Make sure that your eye shadow colors suit your particular skin tone. Use shades that enhance your eye color.
-
Step 3
Apply a medium or darker shade to the eyelid. This darker color goes into the crease of the eyelid where it contours the shape of the eye as well as makes your overall look more dramatic. Make sure to sweep the darker shades of eye shadow only in the crease and on the lid. Avoid extending the eye shadow to the temples.
-
Step 4
Apply eyeliner to the top lash line. There are many types of eyeliners to choose from; pencils, crayons, liquid liners, and gel liners. Choose the one that is easiest for you to work with. Get as close to the lash line as you can. Draw an even line, extending slightly past the outer edge for more drama.
-
Step 5
Curl eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Hold the curler closed for ten to fifteen seconds, to ensure maximum curl. Once lashes are curled, apply mascara with an upward sweeping motion. Mascara will lengthen and give volume to lashes while making the eye appear more dramatic.
