1. Catfishing is fun and over the years I have found that blood baits catch more catfish. Just about any type of chicken,beef,liver type of baits work the best
   To make catfish blood bait, put about half an inch of liver or beef blood in a small pan, put it in the fridge until it thickens and after that cut it into strips. When you go catfishing keep it on ice and put the bait on a catfish hook.Tie it on with a thin piece of thread or other line that will keep it on the hook or you can use treble hooks .You should match the bait size by the size of the catfish you are fishing for.If the area you are fishing has smaller catfish then you need to use a smaller bait.

2. One of the top baits for catfishing is fresh chicken livers. Catfish just love them and will bite more on fresh chicken livers. The meaty smell,will bring in catfish from long distances.Put them on the hook the same as you do with beef baits.When you cast the bait make sure it is a gentle cast and don't whip your rod or you might cast off the catfish bait.Use enough sinker weight to keep the bait on the bottom.Place the sinker about 2 or 3 feet up the line this will allow the bait to bounce along the bottom with the current.Make sure you move the bait now and then to keep the scent flowing in the current.

3. Shad make excellent catfish bait in most lakes and rivers, the reason is that cat fish feed on them . Catfish also feed on minnows cray fish and worms or night crawlers. The best way to fish shad is to cut it into strips leave as much of the guts in the bait as possible to send out a good fresh scent to attract the catfish.
   If your not using fresh shad or minnows as bait try this catfish bait recipe:Put a couple dozen small shad in a blender.Add a 1/2 cup or so of cornmeal and spoon full garlic powered sugar.Mix it good and store in a container,shake it up now and then.You can dip your baits in the catfish bait mixture and your good to go.
