      Use an exfoliating acne scrub once a week. This will open up clog pores, remove dirt and oil, and slough off dead skin cells that contribute to breakouts.

      Press a cube of ice onto inflamed acne spots to soothe the swelling and remove some of the redness.

      Apply daily salicylic acid lotion on prominent acne spots. Salicylic acid is a powerful acne medication that goes deep into pores to remove acne-causing bacteria and heal acne spots from within.

      Use a glycolic acid cleanser twice a day. Glycolic acid is similar to salicylic acid in that it sloughs off dead skin cells and unclogs pores to keep new acne spots from forming. Use the cleanser once in the morning and once before bed for optimum results.
