How to Make a Slingshot Out of a Rubber Band
Whether you are trying to bother one of your friends or prove your superior aim, you can easily create a slingshot out of a rubber band. You'll want to use one of the wider and thicker rubber bands, as these are more durable and will give your slingshot the most power when launching any projectiles from it. You can construct one in a matter of minutes. Put one together today and just see what kind of fun you can have (and what kind of trouble you can cause).

1
Find a sturdy rubber band and some masking tape. You do not need very much masking tape; you will just need a small amount to create the pouch for your slingshot. A sturdy rubber band works best. One of the ticker and wider rubber bands should do the trick. Older rubber bads tend to dry and snap, so youth is a virtue as well. Once you have both of these, you are ready to start.

2
Lay the rubber band on its side so that it is flat. Find and mark the very center of the rubber band; this is important as it will help in the balance of your slingshot. Once you have marked the center of the rubber band, you can start to measure out and cut your tape.

Look at how long the rubber band is and decide on how big you want to create the pouch--the area where your ammunition will sit prior to launch. A good measure would be a piece of masking tape about an inch and a half to two inches wide. You need to decide what you will use as ammunition as this will help determine how wide you will cut the tape. Let's respect our mothers and rule out hard and sharp projectiles right from the outset.

Wrap your measured tape around the center of the rubber band, end over end until you have a sturdy pouch. Masking tape works well here as it is easy to work with and it is very durable. What you should now have is two loops of a rubber band, one on each side of the piece of masking tape.

5
Decide what hand you will place the rubber band on, if you are right handed you will probably want to place the rubber band on your left hand. Place one loop around the thumb of your left hand and place the other loop around the index finger of your left hand. When you spread your index finger and thumb apart, the rubber band should be pulled tight.

Place your ammunition in the pouch and squeeze it with your right index finger and thumb. Spreading your left index finger and thumb apart, pull back on the pouch and rubber band with your right hand, then aim with your left hand and release your ammunition. You should hit your target or come close. Load up with another piece of ammunition and fire away. You can also place the rubber band on any "V" shaped object, as long as you can loop each side around something and have enough room to pull back and launch your ammunition.
