Determine Your Dog's Weight

Determine how much your dog weighs. If your dog visits the veterinarian on a regular basis, it is likely that they have a report of your dog's weight. Use this information if your dog hasn't lost or gained a significant amount of weight since the last visit.

Weigh the dog yourself if you can't access to a vet report, or if your dog has changed weight since the last visit. Set your dog on a reliable scale and put the dog in a sit position. This assures that your dog won't move around too much to get an accurate reading. Record your dog's weight and put it in a safe place.

Select the proper dosage of Frontline Plus for your dog. There are 4 varieties of Frontline Plus that you can select from depending on your dog's weight.
Selecting the Proper Dosage

Select Frontline Plus for small dogs and puppies if your dog weighs anywhere from 0 to 22 pounds, or is a puppy over 8 weeks old. Frontline Plus for small dogs and puppies is best for most toy breeds and many small terriers. Frontline Plus for small dogs and puppies comes in a box highlighted with light orange trim. Select Frontline Plus for medium dogs if your dog weighs anywhere from 23 to 44 pounds. Frontline Plus for medium dogs is best for many dogs in the sporting and non-sporting groups, medium-sized terriers, and many mixed-breed dogs. Select Frontline Plus for large dogs if your dog weighs anywhere from 45 to 88 pounds. Frontline Plus for large dogs is best for many dogs in the working and herding groups, and large terriers. Select Frontline Plus for extra large dogs if your dog weighs anywhere from 89 to 132 pounds. Frontline Plus for extra large dogs is best for many of the biggest dog breeds, like the Great Dane, the Newfoundland, and the Saint Bernard. Administering Frontline Plus

Administer Frontline Plus to your dog after selecting the proper dosage based on your dog's weight. Remember that you must wait 24 hours both before and after administering Frontline Plus to your dog if you want your dog to have any contact with water. This allows for the medication to properly penetrate the dog's skin and oil ducts.

Administer Frontline Plus according to the directions given on the box. Administration of Frontline Plus involves putting the medication on the dog's back between the shoulder blades.

Repeat administration every month. If your dog's weight stays level, you likely will not need to change dosages. However, if your dog grows or gains weight, you may need to purchase the next level of Frontline Plus. Frontline Plus can be bought in packages of 3 or 6 doses.
