How to Practice Jogging Etiquette and Safety

Following a few simple steps can add safety and enjoyment to your running routine.

    1. Jogging Near Traffic

        Obey all traffic regulations when running near traffic.

        Run against traffic and stay in designated walking or running areas. You'll be more likely to see potential problems and avoid an accident if you're facing approaching cars.

        Make eye contact with drivers whose path you will cross.

        Run during daylight hours if possible. If you're running at night, wear reflective clothing and pay extra attention to your surroundings.

      If you are a beginner and/or overweight, please refrain from wearing spandex shorts (especially men). Women, men don't want to see your private areas defined, as we are trying to get in a good run. Also, never spray someone with your water bottle!
