Wondering how to title your article to get the most traffic ? Try Google Trends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet connection
  • Google Search Engine
  1. Step 1
How to use stuff on Google

How to use stuff on Google

Go to Google Trends (See link in Resources below). If you are thinking of a title and can't decide between the following phrases, "How to find" , "How to choose", and "How to use".... Type all 3 into Google Trends, separated by commas. You will notice the following.... "How to use" ranks far above the rest.
Why ? People are looking for tips on "How to use" stuff on Google.

  2. Step 2

When I started to write this article I had the title as "How to choose the best title for your eHow article", but after seeing that "How to use" ranks higher in Search terms , I had to rethink the title. So I reconfigured it to read "How to use..." How to use what ? Well the article was going to be about Google Trends. So it became "How to use Google Trends to find the best title for your eHow article".

  3. Step 3

Why so much attention to the title ? Well if you want traffic on your articles, you need to be ranked # 1 on Google. A few days after publishing your article go to Google and type in the exact title of your article. As an example of one of my recent titles type "how to build a tipi for the kids". If it is a good title your eHow article will be the # 1 link listed on Google's Search Engine.

  4. Step 4

So next time you can't decide between one word and another in your eHow article title go over to Google Trends and try them out. Go with the word that gets a higher ranking on their charts and you will see more traffic on your article. Just something I noticed on mine.
