Things You'll Need:
- Email account
- Common sense
-
Step 1
Give your email message a proper subject line to give the reader an idea that the email is legitimate. Forwarded emails with no subjects are more likely to end up in the receiver’s email trash box or spam folder. If you are forwarding a joke, indicate it in your email subject line to convey the idea that your email is not urgent and the recipient who is busy can check it back some other time. This way you will save them from annoyance and waste of time.
-
Step 2
If you are planning to forward the email to several people in your address book, consider using the BCC (blind carbon copy) feature in the email service instead of using the CC (carbon copy) feature. The former choice is more private since the recipients’ email addresses are hidden from each other.
-
Step 3
If the joke you are planning to forward has already been forwarded several times, remove all the forwarding brackets “>” to avoid confusion to the readers. This makes your email more readable.
-
Step 4
Never write your jokes in all capital letters and printed in very bright colors. This is not only annoying, but it is also synonymous to shouting to the reader. Before sending out your email, take time to do basic editing as to the fonts used, color, and general text formatting.
-
Step 5
If you are sending the jokes from your office, be careful in sending out messages that make fun of your boss or coworkers or other similar tasteless jokes. Your email may be read and your reputation and position will be at stake.
-
Step 6
Know the personality types of the people who will receive the joke. Certain jokes appeal to some but it may offend others. If you are unsure, better don’t do it at all.
-
Step 7
Be careful about forwarding joke emails. Your recipients will judge you by the kind of jokes you send them. It will give a clue how you are as a person. You don’t want to risk your reputation by sending out jokes that should have been kept in your inbox.
