How to Decide To Go to College Again

So you hate your job and you think...hmmm..maybe I'll go back to school. This could be a good choice but there are lot's of things to consider before you take that step.

1. First, I'd highly recommend that you take an inventory of your skills. What are you good at and what do you like to do. It's possible that you can repackage yourself and find a job you really love.

2. "But I have no clue what I like or what I'm good at?" This is often the case. I'd highly recommend the book Discover Your Strengths. If you have some idea of your top strengths that will take you a long way to finding out if you should go back to school or not.

3. Write 5 stories of events in your life where you played a major role in the success of that venture. It does not have to be work related.

4. What do you find you love to do when you're not working. Is is gardening? Do you love kids? What is that thing?

5. If you know your strengths and know what you are good at from Step 3 and you also know what you love, you can narrow down a potential career choice fairly easily.

6. Is that career choice one in which you can repackage yourself and go out and sell that to a potential employer OR do you really need to take a class or two or even go back to school to realize your dream. If it's the later 2 then you have your answer.
