Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

  • Cleaning tools and supplies
  • Bucket (optional)

  1. Step 1

Sufferers of allergy or asthma should ask somebody that is not sensitive to clean out molds with products targeted for the purpose.

  2. Step 2

Mold spores will survive after ordinary soap with hot water. Soap and water only dispose "stains" by mold. Those spores which are remained behind and invisible to the naked eye, can quickly recolonize and re-spread. Clean suspicious surfaces often with products designed to flush out molds, to minimize mold growth in homes.

  3. Step 3

You can reduce mold growth by:

    - Making sure your living space has good ventilation.
    - Keeping humidity in your home below 45 percent.
    - Using a dehumidifier, or air conditioner during months that are humid.
    - Avoiding the use of carpet in kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
    - Fixing and drying water leak as soon as possible.
    - Scrubbing surfaces often with mold inhibiting products.

Speaking of microorganisms, mold is the common culprit responsible for the bodily discomforts in the aforementioned.

The most toxic kind of mold: Stachybotrys chartarum, a greenish-black or bluish-black mold that can make people very sick. Sanitize surfaces by cleaning off this mold immediately and completely, with a strong vinegar, bleach or disinfectant products.

Tips & Warnings
  • Change the filter in your air conditioner and central heating system once per year.
  • Air conditioning and heating duct cleaning is recommended for every 5 years.
  • Take off your shoes before entering your home. Dust and soil stuck underneath your shoes carry mold. You don't want to spread the mold by walking in your home wearing outside shoes. You should have separate footwear for indoors and outdoors.
