How to Play the Split Card Game
Split is a card game in which each player gets to control two piles of cards. The goal is for a player to have the same total in each of his piles of cards. If this happens, that player will receive the benefit of a large score at the end of the hand. Players who do not have the same total in their piles will have a much lower score as the total of their cards is then divided by one of the cards in their hand. This is a game that is light on strategy and is great to play while waiting at an airport or on vacation.

1
Find a small group of friends to play the Split Card Game with. The minimum number of players is two and the maximum number of players is five. The Split Card Game plays best with three or four players.
-
2
Deal two piles of three cards face down to each player. Players must play both piles, but can not combine the piles or exchange cards between their own two piles. Allow players to look at their own piles.

3
Take turns at the table as you try to assemble two three-card piles where the total of each pile is exactly the same. In the Split Card Game, kings are worth 0 points, aces are worth one point, twos through 10s are worth their face values, jacks are worth 11 points, and queens are worth 12 points.
-
4
Place the remaining pile of cards in the center of the table and flip the top card face up next to that pile to form the discard deck. Players may draw either the top card of the draw pile or the top card of the discard deck. A player can then add that card to either of his piles and discard one card face up to the discard pile from the same pile he added a card to.
-
5
Continue taking turns in a clockwise rotation around the table. On a player's turn, instead of drawing he can say "Split" if he has the same total in both of his piles. This ends the game and the hand is scored.
-
6
Scoring the hand depends on the totals of the two piles. If you have two different totals, add the two cards together and divide that total by the larger of the two numbers, producing your score for the round. Decimals are rounded down. If the two totals are the same, add them together and that is your point total for the round. Continue playing until one player has 200 points.

Tips & Warnings
There is not a lot of strategy with this game, but beware that the game can end quickly so you will want to try to get your totals close to each other early in the game.
Playing with five players can result in a very long game, especially if only one player has piles of cards with matching values each round.
