How to Cover Up Stretch Marks

Save

Most people have stretch marks and you shouldn't be ashamed of them. Life is a journey, and sometimes we get marked up along the way. If simply wearing clothing that conceals your stretch marks — for example, longer camisoles that fully cover your back and stomach — isn't enough, there are several things you can do to lessen their appearance.

And know that time heals all wounds; it may take a few years, but your stretch marks will fade. In the meantime, follow the steps below.

Cover up stretch marks with special body makeup that's formulated to match your skin tone. This is a great option if you have visible stretch mark scars that are hard to cover up with clothing. Look for a water-resistant brand so that the makeup won't run if you start to sweat.

Apply a self-tanning lotion. Not everyone gets great results this way, and it works best on older stretch marks that have already faded a bit. However, it's a quick fix that's worth a try if you're having trouble finding a good body makeup.

Help your stretch marks fade by treating them with moisturizing lotions. You can make your own lotion at home: Combine 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup aloe vera gel, and the contents of five vitamin E gel capsules and three vitamin A gel capsules. Mix well and apply. Store the lotion in your refrigerator for best results.

Talk with a dermatologist if you would like to try something more aggressive, such as microdermabrasion or laser treatments.
