Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Blogger account
- Internet access
-
Step 1
After you have set up your blogger account on your computer, you may want to choose a different blog template. Blogger templates have many forms and searching for free templates can be a bit tricky. First, know what you want. There are 2 column blogger templates, 3 column blogger templates, and even 4 column blogger templates. Once you know how many columns you would like you can narrow your search results by searching for it. There are two kinds of blogger templates that you will come across. You can determine one from the other by the file extension. Classic blogger is normally an html and the newer blogger templates are xml files. If you don't know the difference, look at your blog and the options you have. If you have the layout option then you have the most updated blogger and you will need the xml templates for your blog.
-
Step 2
Once you have found the blogger template that you like, save your template file making sure that you know where you saved it to. It is best to have started a folder labeled "blog" or something similar to be able to retrieve your files easily.
-
Step 3
Next, log into your blogger account and access your blog by clicking on layout. Click next on the "edit html" tab. Once there you will want to download your current blog template so that you can re-load it if something doesn't work.
-
Step 4
When you have downloaded your current layout, click on the browse button to locate your new blogger template. Select it and click the upload button. To make sure it is what you want, click the preview button to see what your blog will look like. If the template looks the way you want it, save your new template and you are done. If not, you can click the clear edits button and go back to the way it was.
