Things You'll Need:
- Digital Camera
- Tripod (recommended)
- Autostitch Software
- A little time
-
Step 1
First you must take the pictures that will make up the panorama. It is helpful to use a tripod because it keeps the camera steady and provides a single pivot point. Make sure that each photo overlaps at least 30%.
-
Step 2
Put the pictures into a folder on your computer
-
Step 3
Download AutostitchDownload Autostitch from http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html (even though it says its a demo version, there are no limitations). Extract the application file and save it somewhere on your computer
-
Step 4
How to get to OptionsOpen Autostitch.exe. Click on the "Edit" menu and then select "Options" (see picture)
-
Step 5
OptionsA new window will appear with a wide array of options. You can safely ignore most of them. The two ones you will want to change are "Scale (%)" and "JPEG Quality" (see picture). Set Scale to 100% (instead of the default 10%) and set JPEG Quality to something between 90 to 95. Click OK.
-
Step 6
Opening the PicturesNow click on "File" and then on "Open" (see picture). Navigate to where you stored the photos for the panorama (they must all be in the same folder). Once you are in the correct folder, select the images to upload by either pressing Ctrl+A to select all, dragging a box around the files, using the Shift key to select a range, or the Ctrl key to select individual photos.
-
Step 7
Once all the photos have been selected, click "Open". The stitching process will start automatically. It may take some time before it is finished. Once it is finished it will automatically open the file
-
Step 8
Autostitch will save the finished panorama to the folder where the individual photos are located. It will name it pano.jpg.
-
Step 9
You may notice that there is a certain amount of black around the edges of the photo. These are spaces where there is no photo data. Simply use your favorite image editing software to crop the panorama so that no blank space remains
