How to Get Rewarded to Search the Internet

Reward search engines are very similar to what you've experienced with Google, MSN, and Yahoo but have an added incentive to get you to use them over the more well-known search engines. In this article, I'll show you how a couple of these work.

Things You'll Need:

  • To get rewarded for searching the Internet
  1. Step 1

First of all, I honestly used to think that all reward search engines were scams. Where was the incentive for the search engine company? Then I figured out that increased online advertising revenue (because of more visitors) would not only offset what they're rewarding their visitors but give them a good profit long-term. You still need to be careful in which websites you choose to use, but there is a legitimate reason why some search engines are rewarding people to use them.

  2. Step 2

Most reward search engines work on a points system of some form. This is to get you to come back over and over again, not just once. Some give you points for each search (usually with some kind of daily limit) and others work on a randomized schedule based on time. It takes some trial and error to figure out what works best with each engine, but ideally most of them just want you to treat them like you would Google or any other regular search engine.

  3. Step 3

If you find one you really like, you can put it as your homepage. Personally, I'm not a big fan of lots of toolbars, just because they tend to bog down your computer if you have too many of them. Some offer an additional incentive for using their toolbars, but that's a personal decision that I'll leave up to you. If you want to try this out with multiple engines like me, I just bookmark the others.

  4. Step 4

There are lots of reward search engines out there, and the main thing is to just be careful about reading the Terms and Conditions, with the main issue being that the site has a good Privacy Policy and doesn't share your information with others. If you want to avoid any potential spam, have a separate e-mail just for these kinds instead of using your main personal account (which is a good thing to do anyway).

  5. Step 5

I'm trying several of these sites right now and will add more as I find which ones are legitimate and worthwhile to use. If you like, you can bookmark this article and check back every so often for updates under Resources.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using a combination of these sites, along with your favorite main search engine is pretty fun. I've found the results are pretty similar in most cases, especially for the top 10 websites. Only the sponsored websites are going to be the ones that vary somewhat, and they're indicated.
