How to Get 6-Pack Abs at Home

Save

You don't need to go to a gym to get the six-pack abs you've always wanted. There are three exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home to sculpt your abs. These exercises can be done during TV commercials or other stolen moments in your day.

Things You'll Need

  • Yoga ball (also called a stability ball)

Yoga Ball Sit-Ups

  • Set up your yoga ball in an open area with plenty of room for you to exercise.

  • Sit on the yoga ball, then roll the ball down your back so that the curve of the ball is in the arch of your back.

  • Spread your feet so that you keep your balance.

  • Proceed to do 20 sit-ups as you normally would. Balancing on the ball works all of your core stomach muscles, which builds stronger abs. Do this every day for best results.

Bicycle Exercise

  • Lie down on the floor on your back and put your hands behind your head.

  • Lift your shoulders off the floor by using your abs.

  • Raise your left knee so that it is over your chest and straighten the other leg out in front of you.

  • Touch your right elbow to your left knee.

  • Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the left elbow and the right knee. Transition smoothly without lying flat. This will look like your legs are pumping bicycle pedals. Do 12 to 16 reps.

Leg Lift

  • Lie flat on the floor with your arms to your sides.

  • Hold your legs together and use your abs to hold your body flat on the floor while you raise your legs until your feet are over your hips.

  • Slowly lower your legs using your abs to stabilize you. Do 12 to 16 reps.

Tips & Warnings

  • Warm up your body by walking before doing these exercises.
  • Consult your doctor before starting any new exercise routines. Don't ever pull your head up with your hands in any exercise.
