Apply a pre-wash conditioner to your hair. The skin on your scalp can become dry and flaky during the cold weather months. It is important that you take the steps necessary before you jump in the shower to heal this dry skin. A pre-wash conditioner will help to lock in moisture before you wash your hair.

2
Shampoo your hair every two to three days. While washing your hair removes dirt and oil from your hair to get it clean, it also removes the natural oils from your hair. This can cause your skin to become dry. Limit the amount of washing to your hair each week to heal dry skin.

Take showers of no longer then 10 minutes. Besides being good for the environment and conserving water, this will help to heal dry skin. The warm water from your shower strips the natural oils out of your skin. This can lead to excessive dryness.

4
Put an oil based cream moisturizer on after you shower. This will help to heal dry skin because it is much more moisturizing then the lighter body lotions. Putting the moisturizer on right after the shower is best because the pores are open and ready to absorb all of the moisturizer.
